What is Matrix
Matrix is an End-to-End encrypted messenger similar to Facebook messenger. You can chat, share files, make calls and video chat people you are connected to in a secure way. It ensures your communications stay private and the bad actors can't take over your account and pretend to be you.
How does it work
You will pick a chat client to use, here on Netzy Cloud we utilize FluffyChat and our integrated client is located on your dashboard labeled Netzy Chat. It is also available when logged into the platform by visiting https://chat.netzycloud.us
Create an account
Netzy Cloud runs it's own private home server on the matrix network to keep our users data safe by keeping it in-house. Our Home Server address is: netzycloud.us. An account is created for you at registration based on your platform User ID. If you want a different Matrix address, you can sign up for a new account and sign in.
Once you are signed in you will need to verify your identity with a contact or previous device to enable the encryption. Every device you sign into will need to be verified to enable encryption. Some chats and room that are encrypted won't let you see or interact with it's members until you are verified and you may see messages that say Redacted or Chat Encrypted. This is normal. Also, once a chat is encrypted, encryption cannot be deactivated. This is to encourage users to be verified and have secure communication.
Getting Verified
In order to verify your identity you must verify with a trusted contact or group member. You may also verify with a currently verified device. When you are starting out you will have to use the Trusted Contact method.
In your settings tab tap on Encryption or Security and then click Start Verification. This will need to be in a private 1:1 chat when your first starting out.
In a group chat, click the padlock with the red exclamation point and click Start Verification to start the process. This will need to be done for every group chat you belong to for security purposes.
When you verify with a partner, each person will need to verify a series of images to make sure they match and then click They Match. If you click they Don't Match you will not be verified and will have start the process over again.
